Aye Khaak Nasheenon (also known as Tarana) is a beautiful Urdu poem by Pakistani poet, Faiz Ahmad Faiz.
Note:
We have tried to translate Aye Khaak Nasheenon Uth Baitho into English. However, it must be noted that while a translated poem may carry the message, it can never fully capture its essence — the depth of thought, the layered emotions, and the beauty of the language that make the original poem so powerful.
Stanza 1: Aye Khaak Nasheenon Uth Baitho by Faiz Ahmad Faiz
[Darbaar-e-watan mein jab aik din sab janay walay jaayein ge] [Kuch apni saza ko pohanchen ge, kuch apni jaza le jaayein ge]
When, in the court of the homeland, all will be summoned Some will face their reckoning; others will walk away with their reward.
Stanza 2: Aye Khaak Nasheenon Uth Baitho by Faiz Ahmad Faiz
O you who dwell in dust—rise! The hour draws near, When thrones will be toppled, when crowns will be cast away.
Stanza 3: Aye Khaak Nasheenon Uth Baitho by Faiz Ahmad Faiz
[Ab toot girain gi zanjeerein, ab zindanon ki khair nahin] [Jo darya jhoom ke uthay hain, tinkon se na taalay jaayein ge]
The chains will shatter, the prisons will fall— And the rivers rising in rage won’t be stopped by twigs or straw.
Stanza 4: Aye Khaak Nasheenon Uth Baitho by Faiz Ahmad Faiz
[Kat’tay bhi chalo, barhtay bhi chalo, baazu bhi bohat hain, sir bhi bohat] [Chaltay bhi chalo keh ab deray manzil hi pe daalay jaayein ge]
Keep moving forward, even if wounded, for we have many arms, many heads, Keep marching on, for now our camps will be pitched at the destination instead.
Stanza 5: Aye Khaak Nasheenon Uth Baitho by Faiz Ahmad Faiz
[Ae zulm ke maato, lab kholo, chup rehne waalo, chup kab tak] [Kuch hashr to un se uthay ga, kuch door to naalay jaayein ge]
O victims of oppression, speak up—how long will you stay silent? A reckoning will rise against them, cries of justice will echo violent.
