Pakistani authorities have abducted yet another PTI worker, a young woman for online activism. Arooba Komal is a political volunteer who handled PTI’s Facebook page.
Arooba Komal was picked up by authorities on Saturday, July 27, 2024, from her hostel.
Arooba’s abduction is part of the state-backed crackdown on social media activists, in which dozens of PTI’s social media workers were subjected to enforced disappearance. On July 17, 2024, PTI’s Instagram lead, Atta Ur Rehman, was abducted from home, while on July 20, 2024, PTI’s international media Ahmed Waqas Janjua was abducted from his house.
