Aadkhri aadmi ka rajaz (the last man’s vaunt) is an Urdu nazam by Iftikhar Arif in which he confronts the reckless tyrannies which demoralize the unprotected masses governed by the fascist rulers.
Note:
We have tried to translate Aakhri Aadmi Ka Rajaz into English. However, it must be noted that while a translated poem may carry the message, it can never fully capture its essence — the depth of thought, the layered emotions, and the beauty of the language that make the original poem so powerful.
Stanza 1: Aakhri Aadmi Ka Rajaz by Iftikhar Hussain
مصاجبین شاہ مطمئن ہوئے کہ سرفراز سر بریدہ بازوؤں سمیت شہر کی فصیل پر لٹک رہے ہیں اور ہر طرف سکون ہے
سکون ہی سکون ہے
[Musahibeen-e-shah mutma’in hue ke Sarfaraz. sar bureeda baazuon samait, sheher ki faseel par latak rahe hain]
[Aur har taraf sukoon hai]
[Sukoon hi sukoon hai]
The king’s courtiers are at peace; the severed heads and arms of those who would not bow hang from the battlements
On every side is peace
Peace, perfect peace
Stanza 2: Aakhri Aadmi Ka Rajaz by Iftikhar Hussain
[Fughaan-e-khalq ahl-e-taifa ki nazar ho gayi]
[Mataa-e-sabr-o-wahshat dua ki nazar ho gayi]
[Umeed-e-ajar be-yaqeeni-e-jaza ki nazar ho gayi]
[Na aitbaar-e-harf hai na aabroo-e-khoon hai]
[Sukoon hi sukoon hai]
The cries of the people are lost among blaring trumpets,
Their patience is all spent and lost in the lunacy of prayer
All hopes of recompense are gone – men do not trust in God’s reward
Words have no credibility; the regard for human life is gone
There’s peace, perfect peace
