کوئی پہاڑ یہ کہتا تھا اک گلہری سے
تجھے ہو شرم تو پانی میں جا کے ڈوب مرے
ذرا سی چیز ہے اس پر غرور کیا کہنا
یہ عقل اور یہ سمجھ یہ شعور کیا کہنا
خدا کی شان ہے نا چیز چیز بن بیٹھیں
جو بے شعور ہوں یوں با تمیز بن بیٹھیں
[Koi PahaR yeh kehta tha aik gulehri se]
[Tujhe ho sharam to paani mein ja ke doob mare]
[Zara si cheez hai is par ghuroor Kya kehna]
[Yeh aqal aur yeh samajh yeh shuoor Kya kehna]
[Khuda ki shaan hai naa-cheez cheez ban baiThen]
[Jo be-shuoor hon yun ba-tameez ban baiThen]
A mountain once said to a squirrel:
“If you had any shame, you’d drown yourself in the water.
Such a small thing, and yet so full of pride
This intelligence, this understanding, this awareness—what to say of it
God’s marvel, insignificant things become significant
And unconscious ones act so well-mannered

تری بساط ہے کیا میری شان کے آگے
زمیں ہے پست مری آن بان کے آگے
جو بات مجھ میں ہے تجھ کو وہ ہے نصیب کہاں
بھلا پہاڑ کہاں جانور غریب کہاں
[Teri basaat hai kya meri shaan ke aage]
[Zameen hai past meri aan baan ke aage]
[Jo baat mujh mein hai tujh ko woh hai naseeb kahan]
[Bhala PahaR kahan janwar ghareeb kahan]
“What is your worth compared to my grandeur?
The earth itself pales in comparison to my splendour
What I possess, you can never hope for
How could a poor creature like you compare to a mighty mountain?
STANZA 3 - Aik pahaR aur gulehri by Allama Iqbal
کہا یہ سن کے گلہری نے منہ سنبھال ذرا
یہ کچی باتیں ہیں دل سے انہیں نکال ذرا
جو میں بڑی نہیں تیری طرح تو کیا پروا
نہیں ہے تو بھی تو آخر مری طرح چھوٹا
[Kaha yeh sun ke gilahri ne munh sambhaal zara]
[Yeh kachchi baatein hain dil se inhein nikaal zara]
[Jo main baRi nahin teri tarah to kya parwa]
[Nahin hai tu bhi to aakhir meri tarah chhoTa]
Hearing this, the squirrel replied:
“Watch your tongue and think before you speak
“Let go of these naive thoughts from your heart
If I’m not as big as you, so what?
After all, you’re not small like me either

ہر ایک چیز سے پیدا خدا کی قدرت ہے
کوئی بڑا کوئی چھوٹا یہ اس کی حکمت ہے
بڑا جہان میں تجھ کو بنا دیا اس نے
مجھے درخت پہ چڑھنا سکھا دیا اس نے
[Har aik cheez se paida Khuda ki qudrat hai]
[Koi baRa koi chhota yeh us ki hikmat hai]
[BaRa jahaan mein tujh ko bana diya us ne]
[Mujhe darakht pe chaRhana sikha diya us ne]
Every creation reflects God’s power
Some are big, some small—it’s His wisdom
He made you grand in the world
And taught me to climb trees

قدم اٹھانے کی طاقت نہیں ذرا تجھ میں
نری بڑائی ہے خوبی ہے اور کیا تجھ میں
جو تو بڑا ہے تو مجھ سا ہنر دکھا مجھ کو
یہ چھالیا ہی ذرا توڑ کر دکھا مجھ کو
[Kadam uthane ki taqat nahin zara tujh mein]
[Niri baRai hai khoobi hai aur kya tujh mein]
[Jo tu baRa hai to mujh sa hunar dikha mujh ko]
[Yeh chaaliya hi zara toR kar dikha mujh ko]
You lack even the strength to move your feet
You’re all size—what other power do you possess?
If you are so great, show me a skill like mine;
Just break this tiny betel nut and prove it to me

نہیں ہے چیز نکمی کوئی زمانے میں
کوئی برا نہیں قدرت کے کارخانے میں
[Nahin hai cheez nikammi koi zamane mein]
[Koi bura nahin qudrat ke kaarkhane mein]
There’s nothing useless in this world,
No creation is flawed in God’s grand design
